RWHOA Board of Directors – President’s Letter – October 2017
Fellow RWHOA Homeowners and Residents,
Thanks to all of you who attended our July meeting. Our next meeting will be in November and is our annual meeting. The exact date will be posted on our website and the notification signs will be set out in front of each entry gate at least two days before the meeting. Please try to attend. This is your opportunity to elect the Board of Directors of your choice and review and understand the proposed budget for the coming year. There are a number of financial issues that will be of interest and importance.
I would like to take this opportunity, in the wake of hurricane Irma, to update you on the status of recovery. To begin with, we were fortunate to have weathered the storm as well as we did. I witnessed the devastating effects of the hurricanes of 2004 and was happy to see that there were much fewer ‘blue roofs’ than there were then. The interruption of power was significantly shorter than then, as well. And, while we have a great deal of debris, it is also less than then.
However, the debris is a problem. Following several telephone calls with Orange County Public Utilities, I’ve been advised that we are on their schedule and they hope to complete pickup by mid-October. One positive note is that it appears we, as a gated community, will not need to hire a private removal firm. As soon as I have confirmation of the exact date for pickup, it will be posted on our official website and informal Face Book page. For those of you that are able, I recommend that you cut branches and other green waste into 3′ lengths and bundle them or place them in trash containers. They may be collected at the time of our normal green waste pickup. Larger items should left at the side of the street, without blocking mail delivery or road traffic. Any reduction in debris will minimize the number of pests (e.g. snakes, rodents, insects etc.) that take up residence in the wood piles and, ultimately, our homes.
Thank you for your efforts in maintaining the Reserve as an attractive place to live. With having said that, I must also add that there are a number of repeat offenders who are violating some of the covenants. These violations range from annoyances and unattractiveness to disruption and danger. Beginning next year, we will be enforcing the covenants more vigorously and levying fines for those individuals that refuse to comply with the rules and regulations. The CRC will be providing a summary of those violations that are highest on their list of serious infractions. It is not our intention to punish offenders as much as it is to make our community a safe and attractive place to live. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
On behalf of the Board and our management company, I look forward to seeing you in November.
Michael Battaglia
President, RWHOA Board of Directors
